Happy New Year!!

The end of 2008 is here and 2009 is knocking on the door. This has been a pretty decent year considering everything that has happened with the economy. I'm just glad that I finally got my degree, I still have a job and gas prices are not has high has they were a few months ago. For me, next year will be a year of growing. I need to start looking for work in the industry, looking for an apartment, and start putting some more effort into myself. I promised that I will post our student short but I'm still working on it. In fact, I really haven't have time to work on it because of the holiday season. I will promise to post the video, completed by next week. Hope you have a Happy New Year and I a very good year. Sound Slide Final

Here is the sound slide final project. I added more audio to it but didn't really change much else. I like the way it came out. I hope you like it.

Here we go again! I made a few changes and tried to improve some of the audio. I added some music at the begging. Let me know what you think. Again, I will remove the video once JPE has viewed it. I ended up having to post it on YouTube. But you will be able to see it her as well.

Technical Difficulties!!

Please refer to Video posted on 11/26/08. The new video just had a little extra audio but I didn't really add much to it. I like the way that the first version came out but with the added interview and some audio from the class, its much better. But for now you will have something to look at.

Sample Sound Slide

Hey everyone here is a sample of the sound slide that I plan to turn in. The audio is just some music that I felt would suit the pictures but there is more audio that will added. I won't be in class today but I wanted there to be something for you all to look at. Let me know any changes that I should make. The audio that will be added in interviews with the kids that we worked with and what they thought of the whole process. Hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving!!

Trouble Trouble

Okay so we are going to have to reshoot the film for this weekend. The first time was bad but we will do better this second time. I can't believe after all that work we have to do it again but you live and learn. All right, Take 2! Action!

Close to Shooting Day!

I'm really excited about the day of our film and we are finally going to shoot on Saturday. Its going to be a lot of fun and there will be so much to do. Here's a picture of whats to come. This is the "Moms" scene whether the mothers of the two girls who were in a fight confront each other. The moms actually auditioned for these roles and they did really well. We are glad to have them in our film. It looks to be a lot of fun and I can't wait to start editing.

Progress

This weekend we will be shooting for our "Girl Drama" film and I am very excited about it. I will be posting some of the photos from shooting day sense it is also part of my Soundslide. this week has been very busy for me and its going to get worse since not only to I have to prepare the project for this class but I will also be editing out movie. Its a good kind of busy!

Yesterday, the US made a choice for change by electing Barack Obama as the President of the United States of America. When this was announced, I was almost speechless. It was inspiring because this showed that the US has taken a step away from racism, a big step forward towards the future.

Filiming with Kids

My film class at Plaza de la Raza, where I am working with inner-city kids, is working out really well. The kids in the class are really into it which makes working with them not only easy but fun. I have to admit that at the beginning of the quarter I was nervous about this class. However, as the classes have progressed and as we are getting into the shooting part of the project, I'm no longer nervous. I have been taking pictures of the groups during their rehersals and will be getting more. By the end of the quarter I will have a sound slide of the class and I will probably post our video (after the class viewing) on my blog. I will post some of the pictures from the class by this weekend.

Idea!

I think for my Sound-slide project I'm going to take pictures of my class that deals with teaching inner-city kids on how to make a movie. I enjoy the class itself very much but I would also like to document the process that we go through and how these kids get more and more into the project. I think it will be good to get some of the kids reactions of the class. In the end, I think that it will be a very interesting project.

My First Time!

Okay guys, this is the first time for me. I never really wanted to start a blog because I felt that I really didn't have anything to say. However, this is for my TVF 454L class so I really didn't have a choice, which may turn out to be a good thing. So here we are!

This is my last quarter at CSULA I probably have the best classes so far. First I have a class where we are going to be teaching kids how to make movies. I think that is really going to be a good experience. We are going to go through all the steps from script writing to editing to letting them become the director. Its going to be a lot of work and a little nerve-racking but in all I think it will be fulfilling.

The other class that I'm excited about is actually this TVF454L class which is titled Internet Reporting. From my understanding, it will be mainly about teaching us various ways of putting information on the web. I really haven't come up with any ideas on what I want to talk about yet but I'm sure it will come to me.

I kinda have this one idea of developing a site where students can go to network. The site would post various projects that others need help (a camera person, an editor, just extra hands) or if you are looking for someone specific you can look up the people who have join the site, look at some of their projects, and either contact them directly or get their contact information. I really figured out how to set this up yet but I really think it would be a cool idea.

I haven't done bad for my first day.
