Filiming with Kids

My film class at Plaza de la Raza, where I am working with inner-city kids, is working out really well. The kids in the class are really into it which makes working with them not only easy but fun. I have to admit that at the beginning of the quarter I was nervous about this class. However, as the classes have progressed and as we are getting into the shooting part of the project, I'm no longer nervous. I have been taking pictures of the groups during their rehersals and will be getting more. By the end of the quarter I will have a sound slide of the class and I will probably post our video (after the class viewing) on my blog. I will post some of the pictures from the class by this weekend.

Idea!

I think for my Sound-slide project I'm going to take pictures of my class that deals with teaching inner-city kids on how to make a movie. I enjoy the class itself very much but I would also like to document the process that we go through and how these kids get more and more into the project. I think it will be good to get some of the kids reactions of the class. In the end, I think that it will be a very interesting project.

My First Time!

Okay guys, this is the first time for me. I never really wanted to start a blog because I felt that I really didn't have anything to say. However, this is for my TVF 454L class so I really didn't have a choice, which may turn out to be a good thing. So here we are!

This is my last quarter at CSULA I probably have the best classes so far. First I have a class where we are going to be teaching kids how to make movies. I think that is really going to be a good experience. We are going to go through all the steps from script writing to editing to letting them become the director. Its going to be a lot of work and a little nerve-racking but in all I think it will be fulfilling.

The other class that I'm excited about is actually this TVF454L class which is titled Internet Reporting. From my understanding, it will be mainly about teaching us various ways of putting information on the web. I really haven't come up with any ideas on what I want to talk about yet but I'm sure it will come to me.

I kinda have this one idea of developing a site where students can go to network. The site would post various projects that others need help (a camera person, an editor, just extra hands) or if you are looking for someone specific you can look up the people who have join the site, look at some of their projects, and either contact them directly or get their contact information. I really figured out how to set this up yet but I really think it would be a cool idea.

I haven't done bad for my first day.
